Everyday Activities to Keep Us Moving

Everyday activities to keep us moving
What can we do to get us moving? Whilst we are going through this pandemic, it can be very tempting to hibernate, Netflix and chill and while there is ample opportunity for that at the moment, long term we may find ourselves wishing we had moved a bit more.
Exercise is great for your immune system. So, whether you are in the home or out in the garden there are loads of things to keep us active. The One You Lincolnshire team have been making the most of the warm weather this weekend with lots of gardening, walks and runs (all within the current government guidelines I hasten to add!) Here is a list of everyday activities that will not only give you a mini work out but also make life a little better in the long run...
Vacuuming the house – Now this is one of my pet hates, in fact some people would say I have a pathological fear of this particular activity! I hate the noise and the mess of emptying the bag, but it does make your home so much cleaner and lovelier to be in… it also gets those steps in and works the upper torso and core muscles.
Washing the Car – all the stretching and polishing is a great way to get us moving, and on a lovely sunny day this is definitely a job worth doing.
Painting – Outdoors or indoors – this one is great for balance & stamina, and depending on the size of space you are covering, you can rack up a fair amount of steps too.
Feather Duster Surprise – I say surprise because when we're dusting up high you never know what might fall off the ceiling – they normally have eight legs and their presence is followed by a high-pitched scream. Not only will this get us stretching – you may even have a little run around to get away from the spiders.
Cleaning out cupboards – It's amazing how much we can accumulate and once the door is shut we can ignore the chaos - especially hidden in the tupperware cupboard!! Why not take the time to clear out 2012's stock cubes and whilst you’re there you could do a few bicep curls with those tins if you wanted!

Gardening – weeding the borders is a great way to get some squats in, plus when it’s done you can have a nice cuppa and put your feet up in a beautifully tidy outdoor space - you could also clear an area for a lovely little vegetable patch.
Getting out for a walk is a great way to get that activity in each day. You may want to take the children out on scooters and bikes and it’s worth mentioning that lots of people are putting teddy bears in their windows so that children can ‘go on a bear hunt’ during their walk. If you can’t get out maybe consider putting a bear in your window😊
Speaking of windows – cleaning them definitely gets you moving and can also be deeply satisfying. You could also make a window display for your neighbours whilst you're at it.
Here's some more pics of what the team has been getting up to this weekend!
