Just over half-way through our first course of the Lose Weight with programme at One You Lincolnshire, we have our first client hitting their 5% weight loss target!

Maurice is a retired farmer who was referred into our service via his GP. Due to having concerns over his future health, Maurice was keen to be a part of the programme and since joining has not looked back. The Lose Weight with programme is a 12-week group course, with one 90 minute session taking place each week, comprising of nutrition information, physical activity and behaviour change. Healthy eating topics vary each week from learning about portion size and food labels to taking part in a cook and eat session. The light to moderate intensity physical activity is always tailored to meet the clients needs, offering easier and more challenging options to suit everyone. Alongside the 12-week group programme clients are usually able to set up a leisure pass at a local leisure centre, free of charge!

Since the beginning of the programme Maurice has been very committed and determined, attending every session he can. He has even cut down on his beloved snickers bars, which were a firm favourite of his prior to the programme. Due to the changes that have currently been made, Maurice says he is now feeling better in himself and happily encourages anyone referred to “just give it a go!”. When asked about the programme, he said it is “very good” and there are “lots of incentives”. Maurice finds that the physical activity sessions provide him with ideas for things that he can do at home, as not all physical activity needs to be done in the gym. However, if the gym does help motivate you, we do also offer (where available) access to a leisure centre pass.

For anyone that might be apprehensive about joining our programme, do not worry! When chatting with Maurice, he added that the programme is much better than he expected, and the practitioners are good at what they do. He states that “it works for me” and he recommends the Lose Weight with programme.
