Cameron, Triage and Support Officer

My name is Cameron and I work as a triage and support officer for OYL. I graduated university with a psychology degree in 2018 and began working for this company in 2019.
I do this job because of the difference we make to peoples lives as a company. Seeing clients go from lacking confidence and satisfaction in their lives, to thriving and enjoying life is something that I will never get bored of!
I’m into my football, a life-long supporter of Ipswich Town. Since moving to Lincolnshire in 2015 it has been hard to travel to suffolk to see them play (probably for the best!), but I always look forward to the games against Lincoln.
As you can see we are not robots or automated systems, we are real, local people who want to help make Lincolnshire, healthier.

Whether your GP has referred you to us, or you are contacting us directly, we understand that these initial steps can often be an extremely anxious and nerve-wracking time for you. DO NOT FEAR! Our team are on hand to ease any worries and answer any questions you may have. No question is too obvious and no worry is too silly, you have made a huge stride in getting to this point and with our support, the next steps will be uncomplicated and manageable.
We have had around 3500 Lincolnshire residents register through us this year, of all ages, genders and backgrounds. We understand that often there is an expectation that a certain cross section of society joins a typical healthy living group, we are different!
So what actually happens when you contact us/we contact you?
The core of the conversation will be obtaining your basic personal details and then a short health questionnaire. We do not want you to feel any pressure to disclose non-essential information, the questions we ask are there to assess your eligibility and suitability for our services. Once these are completed, we can have a discussion about the kind of support that would work best for you. Whether that be digital or face to face, in a group setting or one to one or with any of our sub-contractors that offer another angle of support.
We will then get you started with your chosen support by booking an appointment with a practitioner, sending you out some vouchers or even giving you a few days to mull it over.
We are always at the end of the phone if you ever need anything clearing up, some more information or maybe just some reassurance. Just give us a call on 01522 705162 and we will be more than happy to help.
Our aim is to leave you feeling confident, motivated and excited for the next steps of your journey towards a healthier YOU.
